When I was shopping for this lockset I couldn't find any information on whether the Baldwin Smartkeys are interchangeable with the Kwickset Smartkeys. I read that Baldwin is now owned by Kwikset, so I figured it was very likely they would use the same cylinders. Indeed, they do. I have a Kwikset deadbolt on my backdoor and I used its key to re-key the Balwin.
I think the design looks more upscale than the comparable Kwikset entry locksets, and that mostly justifies the price, but it is also has a more substantial, heavier feel. (I have handled both.) The Venetian Bronze finish, however, is like a lot of similar products I've seen these days: thin and easily scratched by metal. Overall, the extra cost is worth it, but it helped that the Amazon price at the time of my purchase was barely more than what the Kwikset models fetch in the big home centers.
